Weather-Appropriate Clothing and Shoes

Weather-Appropriate Clothing and Shoes

Our core facilities are located in Boise, Idaho. Sometimes, clients at Icarus Behavioral Health Idaho go on outings or get to engage in other fun activities that may require certain types of clothes. In general, you want to be sure that you have the following clothing items:

  • At least one pair of tennis shoes (athletic shoes) for physical or recreational activities.
  • At least one pair of shoes for daily wear.
  • Weather-appropriate bottoms (e.g., pants, shorts).
  • Shirts, blouses, or tops.
  • An appropriate bathing suit.
  • Jackets and sweaters.
  • Comfortable pajamas.
  • Underwear.
  • Socks.

Laundry access is available on-site at Icarus Idaho. It’s ideal that you have about 1 to 2 weeks’ worth of clothes to use so that you do not need to wash them more than about once a week.

Personal Identification and Health Insurance Cards

First, there are some important documents you will want to be sure to bring for rehab. These include:

  • Approved form(s) of personal identification. Make sure that you bring your driver’s license or personal identification card to rehab.
  • Your health insurance card. While we will verify coverage with your insurance provider prior to the date of your admission, we ask that you take your health insurance card to treatment, just in case.

If you have questions about what forms of personal identification are acceptable, please call us directly.

Current Prescription Medications and Over-the-Counter Medications

Prescription Medications and Over-the-Counter Medications

Please pack your prescription medication in its original bottle with the label intact. Ensuring that the label is legible and that your medication is in its original container is our requirement because it confirms that your medication belongs to you.

Some over-the-counter medications are okay. Please call to confirm whether specific prescribed medications or over-the-counter drugs are allowed at Icarus Behavioral Health Idaho if you are not sure.

Basic Toiletries and Personal Hygiene Products

Sometimes, the items we use daily are the ones we are less likely to pack or more likely to leave at home by accident. It is important that you make sure you have all of your toiletries and personal hygiene items. Use the following checklist to guarantee that you have all of the basic toiletries and personal hygiene items you will need while in rehab.

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste.
  • Dental floss.
  • Alcohol-free mouthwash.
  • Shampoo and conditioner.
  • Shaving cream and disposable razors.
  • Body wash and soap.
  • Deodorant.
  • Hair brushes or combs.
  • Nail clippers.

While it is critical that you bring personal hygiene essentials, we ask that none of the toiletries you pack contain alcohol. Products containing alcohol may be taken away based on strict rules set to help clients get and stay sober. Extras like makeup and other beauty products are allowed as long as they do not break other rules.

Entertainment and Comfort Items

What to Bring to Rehab - Reading materials

You don’t have a lot of downtime in rehab, but you may want to bring some small, low-cost entertainment items just in case. Since you will be away from home, comfort items can also be beneficial. Clients often bring things like:

  • Reading materials.
  • Pictures of family members or loved ones.
  • Paper, stamps, and envelopes.
  • Stuffed animals.
  • Puzzles and board games.
  • Coloring books.
  • Journals.

You are welcome to bring your own bedding, including blankets, bedsheets, pillows, or pillowcases. Although Icarus Behavioral Health provides comfortable bedding, this is a comfort and preference for some clients.

A List of Emergency Contacts

Make sure that you bring a list of emergency contacts, including their names, home addresses, and phone numbers. If there is anyone you would like to write to while in treatment, bring their address, even if they are not one of your emergency contacts.

A Small Amount of Cash

While we recommend that you leave valuable items at home when possible to avoid losing them while at our rehab facility, a small amount of cash is okay. Clients may want cash for vending machines or outings where items are available for purchase.

What to Leave at Home (Prohibited Items)

What Not to Bring to Rehab - Dangerous or Sharp Objects

It is important to know what to bring to rehab, but it is equally as critical to understand which of your belongings should be left at home. Most rehab centers, ours included, prohibit the following items:

  • Dangerous or sharp objects, with the exception of disposable razors.
  • Illicit substances (drugs and alcohol).
  • Clothing items that promote drug or alcohol use.
  • Drug paraphernalia.
  • Weapons of any kind.

Some items are prohibited at Icarus in Idaho to protect the safety of our clients and our commitment to providing a substance-free, supportive environment. Please call us if you have any questions about our list of prohibited items.
